Brooke had her six month check-up last week. She weighed in at a whopping 15 lb, 5 oz (34%), was 25.5 in long (41%) and was bumped up to the 80th percentile in head circumference. Nice. Therapist mommy was a little worried about some of her gross motor milestones, but the doctor basically told me to chill out and let her develop the way she wants to develop (I should disclaim that we didn't see the very nice but somewhat awkward doctor that we saw last time). This doctor referred us to a pediatric opthamologist to look at her blocked tear duct. We've been told that they often resolve themselves, but Brooke's right eye can get awfully goopey, so it'll be nice to get a second opinion this Friday. Because my insurance plan, as it turns out, is pretty awful when you have an infant, we're going to the county health department later this month for her immunizations (saving us several hundred dollars).
I think it's safe to say that this has easily been the best six months of either of our lives. She's getting more and more fun everyday. It's exciting to see her personality take shape. At this point, she's generally easygoing, but when she wants something, she will not hesitate to make her wishes known. Even though her will is probably already stronger than mine, I like that about her. There are times that I wish I was more assertive and opinionated and not so worried about pleasing people. She loves to read books and watch Ozzie and really loves to eat big girl food. Our dinner times are pretty amusing these days as we're surrounded by begging from her and Ozzie. She's very aware of things going on around her and loves using her hands to play with things. She's still sticking everything in her mouth and is favoring her thumb more and more. She's "talking" up a storm and loves sticking out her tongue. We continue to take great delight in her and want to relish each stage of her development.
I've been a little neglectful in taking pictures lately, so I'll leave you with some pictures taken by Grammie from her time over there last week.
This is her checking email...
