The weather started a little chilly on the 4th of July weekend, so we headed out to breakfast.

We went to the pool that afternoon, then had Bri (and later Mike and Jane and the Bordners) over that evening.

The next day (our 12th anniversary - what!?!), we had three BBQs. The first was at church.
Then, on to my friend Joy's for a pool party and then to the Bauers for Bennett's birthday party.
The kids got to try sparklers. Turns out they don't photograph that well in daylight.
It was cool again the next morning (the 4th of July), so

The kids seemed to have fun, especially when people gave out candy; that being said, I'm not sure we're going to be "parade people." At least we can say we tried.
After a quick nap for Paige, we headed out to Medinah for their carnival, dinner and fireworks.
Grammie Deb and Pop/Grandpa joined us.

Paige loved the ponies from afar, but it took some convincing to get her to ride one.
We dubbed this "The Throw Up Ride." The daddies were troopers and took the little girls on it once.
More cousin time. We were lucky to see so much of Bri this weekend.

Paige had no idea what this game was about, but was happy to play with the ducks in the water.

And bomb pops.
Will and Jamie joined us for fireworks, as is tradition.
Paige was so excited about the fireworks and we thought she'd love them, especially since she got so excited about them at the Sox game. Turns out lots of fireworks at night are a little overwhelming.
Matt took her off to the side and she calmed down.
Then she came back to the group and couldn't get enough.
She spent a little QT with everyone, making sure they saw what was going on up in the sky.
Brooke and Miles sat with their friends Ella and Collette for part of the show.
It was a fun and busy weekend. Happy belated Independence Day!
