We took our fourth annual family vacation to South Haven, MI, last weekend. The weather was absolutely perfect. Last year, it was rainy and chilly much of the time and the year before that, it was super hot, so we were kind of due for some good weather. We were there for four nights and five days. On the third day, I thought that wouldn't be enough time, but by the fifth day, I think we were all happy to be heading back to home and normalcy.
Because the weather was so nice, we spent every morning at the beach and actually had a little trouble squeezing in everything else we wanted to do. Brooke loved being in the water and playing in the sand. Miles would get his feet wet, but preferred playing in the sand or
We got this boogie board on our second day there and Brooke was thrilled. She kept calling it her "surf board."
We found a lady bug that kept the kids busy for awhile. Until Miles accidentally buried it in the sand.
Always checking on "Baby Paige."
We took advantage of a few photo ops. I was really sad that I forgot the good camera on this trip.
Feeding the ducks and geese. They loved this! We'll have to find a lake near here and do it again.
We had ice cream every night. And Miles got blue ice cream all over his clothes every night.
There were also lots of root beers and kiddie cocktails enjoyed.
We had some lazy mornings where we all got to cuddle with Paige.
I had to break up the beach pictures. There were so many good ones.
There were some really good waves on our last day at the beach, which the kids loved.
This girl was ridiculous. Aside from needing to eat while we were there, she barely made a peep. She'd chill on the blanket or in her car seat until she fell asleep.
This is Brooke trying to "surf" on her life vest before we got the boogie board.
The water was cold and we were expecting Paige to freak out when we got her feet wet. She didn't seem impressed.
We also got some good playground time in.
And no trip to Michigan would be complete without wine tasting. Is it bad that now Brooke asks when we get there when we're going to go wine tasting?
More photo ops...
Brooke got these extensions when she got to choose a special treat when she and I went shopping. She got so used to people complimenting her on them that she would be upset if we left a store and they didn't.
We went on a river boat cruise because the kids kept talking about wanting to go on a boat.
They both had fun steering.
We went blueberry picking on our way out of town. It was the perfect ending to a really great trip.
We had to sort through Miles' bucket when we were done. He had quite a few green berries and who know how many of the blue ones he got off the ground?
Our photo shoot by the South Haven sign didn't go quite as well as planned.
But we got a good family shot on our last night there. We're already looking forward to next year!
